শ্রাবণ মাহাত্ম্য

নৈমিষারণ্যে শৌনকাদি ঋষিগণ সূত জীকে শ্রাবণ মাসের মাহাত্ম্য বর্ণনা করার অনুরোধ করেন। সূত জী আদর্শ শ্রোতার বারোটি গুণের বর্ণনা দিয়ে শিব কর্তৃক সনৎকুমারকে বলা শ্রাবণের মহিমা প্রকাশ করেন।

ভগবান শিব শ্রাবণ মাসের পবিত্র আচার, নিয়ম ও ধর্ম পালনের উপদেশ দিলেন—যাতে প্রাতঃস্নান, শুচিতা, বিল্বপত্রে শিবপূজা এবং ইন্দ্রিয় সংযমের বিধান রয়েছে।

শ্রাবণ মাসে নক্ত ব্রতের (সূর্যাস্ত বা নক্ষত্র দর্শনের পর একবেলা আহার) অপরিসীম মহিমা। ভগবান শিব এই ব্রতের নিয়ম এবং পাপমুক্তির অপূর্ব ফল বর্ণনা করলেন।

ধারণ-পারণ ব্রতের বিধান, যাতে পুরো শ্রাবণ মাস একদিন পূর্ণ উপবাস ও পরের দিন ভোজন করা হয়। এই তপস্যা দেহ ও আত্মাকে পরম পবিত্র করে।

কোটিলিঙ্গ পূজার মাহাত্ম্য এবং শ্রাবণ মাসের রবিবার ব্রতের কথা। সূর্য নারায়ণ ও শিবের উপাসনায় দারিদ্র্য ও রোগ দূর হয়ে পরম ঐশ্বর্য লাভ হয়।
