Sayahna Sandhya is the sacred evening juncture (Sandhya) when daylight gives way to the onset of night. Along with Pratah Sandhya (dawn) and Madhyahna Sandhya (noon), it forms the core of Tri-Sandhya prescribed in the Vedas for spiritual communion.
Traditionally commencing at sunset and extending for 3 Ghatis (approx. 72 minutes), this twilight transition is the ordained time for evening Sandhyavandanam, chanting the Gayatri Mantra, offering evening Arghya, and practicing silent contemplation. It dissolves the day's stress and aligns the mind with inner quietude.
Sayahna Sandhya is the junction of day and night and the last of the Tri-Sandhya. Tradition prescribes facing west, chanting the Gayatri mantra and offering water before the night begins.
Calculated precisely from the local sunset and following night span for your selected location. Performing spiritual observances during this tranquil interval brings peace, concentration, and mental clarity.
Times are worked out for the place you have chosen (India until you choose one). For the whole day at your place, open the daily panchang.
