## Griha Pravesh Muhurat in January 2025

Griha Pravesh muhurat is the auspicious time to enter a new home for the first time and begin living in it. It depends on the lunar month, the nakshatra, the tithi and the weekday, and it is avoided while Jupiter or Venus is set. The dates on this page follow those rules.

The ceremony itself (puja, havan and boiling milk in the new kitchen) is usually done at the chosen time. If the date or time does not suit your family, a pandit can suggest another muhurat; the dates here are a good starting point.

### Classical Griha Pravesh Rules & Criteria:

- **Favorable Lunar Months (Masa):** Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Kartika, Margashirsha, Magha and Phalguna.
- **Auspicious Nakshatras:** Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati.
- **Tithis:** In both pakshas Chaturthi, Shashthi, Ashtami, Navami, Dwadashi and Chaturdashi are left out, and so are Purnima, Amavasya and Krishna Trayodashi.
- **Weekdays:** Sunday and Tuesday are left out. A nakshatra that begins on a Tuesday is left out as well.
- **Guru and Shukra Asta:** Days when Jupiter or Venus is set (not visible near the Sun), and the 3 days before they set and after they rise again, are left out. Adhika masa is left out too.
